Will You Obey the Word of God?
Men’s Bible Study led us for this week’s discussion. We looked at the Bible verses that we will be using for lessons at our one-day Vacation Bible School (VBS):
Jonah
Luke 5:1-11
The theme for VBS is “Fishers of Men.” The two stories we will be digging into with the kids is Jonah and the Whale and the Miraculous Catch. Here is how both of these stories start:
The word of the Lord came to Jonah son of Amittai: “Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me.” - Jonah 1:1-2
One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. - Luke 5:1
Tim helped us realized that both of these stories started with a choice..
TO or NOT TO obey the Lord’s Word/Directive/Plan…
Jonah did not choose to obey. but God used him anyway (after a nasty three-day stay in the belly of a big, ole fish… Simon did, and Jesus then gave him the honor becoming a fisher of men for the Kingdom.
Looking at Luke 5:4: When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
So, that begs the following questions:
What is your deep?
Where is your deep?
Who is God calling you to cast your net to?
Where is God calling you to cast your net?
What net has God given you to cast?
If you follow Him and His Word, the fish will come into your net.
Are you ready to obey the Word of God?
